I have both and the vita is almost impossible to hold comfortably without the grip (PDP or others), it's a well known issue with the vita. The older 3DS model had that issue but to a lesser degree, 3DS XL is comfortable to hold, and 2DS is the most comfortable handheld ever to hold.
People are weird and satisfying them is an unreachable goal. They bash Nintendo for using their iconic stable of characters in different game genres and ideas and yell "milking" "give us new ip", and when they introduce a new ip they say "why didn't they use their known characters in that ip"!!
